Driving home from my third appointment of today, I pondered my schedule for tomorrow. I couldn’t remember anything on the agenda ― other than running, which I’ve been doing every day lately.

When I got to a stopping point, I checked my calendar on my phone. It was true. Not one appointment, interview, deadline or to-do.

A free day.

Considering that I’m not working a regular job at the moment, you’d think that those would crop up more often. But they don’t.

I think it’s time for what my daughter declared yesterday to be for her ― a pajama day. After I do my run, I’m going to shower, then get back into pajamas for most of the rest of the day.

I told Katie, and her face lit up. “There are so many things we can do!”

Yes, there are.

We can read, take relaxing baths, do each other’s nails. Make Shrinky-Dinks, watch a movie, go roller blading (her, not me!). We can play a game, organize her new jewelry box, go for a walk. Endless possibilities!

There are many things I’m good at, but relaxing isn’t one of them, I admit. It’s something I’m trying to get better at.

And tomorrow I get a chance to practice.

“A little nonsense now and then, is cherished by the wisest men.”

I’m Lisa Bell

It’s me. I’m the writer on this wall. I’ve been having my way with words since 1993.

I started writing professionally while I was still a college student. I’m a wife, mother, foodie, artist, news junkie and recovering journalist.

I’ve worked in higher education communications since 2016 at my alma mater, Fresno State. My professional writing work can be found at Fresno State News.

Before, I was a print journalist with The Fresno Bee for almost 19 years. When that part of my professional career ended, I pivoted to a different direction.

I’m active with my church, Community United Church of Christ, an inclusive and progressive Christian church in Fresno, California.
